Welcome Back and Happy New Year!
We wish everyone in our community a healthy and happy start to 2023! The beginning of a new year is a time when many of us reflect on progress we made toward last year’s goals and things we’d like to accomplish in the future. Our martial arts training teaches us to focus in the face of challenges, whether inside or outside the dojo. We look forward to training together in 2023 in support of one another, whatever our individual goals may be.
When you come into the dojo check out our newly refreshed lobby with the photo display of our history and the new information center. We've also expanded the workout space in the back of the dojo. HUGE shout out to Sensei Amelia, Sensei Guillermo, and Sensei Camille for their help painting, putting together furniture, and cleaning over the winter break!
We're also excited that January will see the return of our weekly Black Belt class at 12:30pm on Saturdays. This Black-Belt-only class will give our advanced students an opportunity to work on and refine their high level material.
Senior Master Lisa and Sensei Michele are offering Level I & Level II workshops of SETpoint empowerment self-defense. Level I is January 13th and Level II will take place on February 3rd. If you want to learn more about SETpoint Empowerment Self-defense, check out last year's Pittsburgh Today Live segment with Senior Master Lisa and Sensei Michele or CLICK HERE for more information about the upcoming sessions.
And EVERYONE is invited to our Lunar New Year's Eve Celebration on Saturday, January 21. We'd love to see all of the care-givers, siblings, relatives, and friends join us as we have a high energy "Rabbit-themed" workout and some Lunar New Year Treats after classes.
Finally, it's time to say goodbye to our paper tiger head that has hung on the wall of our dojo for the past (almost) year. We're raffling it off to support the Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh and for only $5/ticket (or $20 for 5) you could be lucky enough to have it hang on YOUR wall! The drawing will be held on Friday, January 20th and announced in Saturday's classes (and the weekly newsletter).
