At least once a month, we’ll publish stories of our students’ journeys, events at the dojo, or in-depth analyses of techniques. Subscribing to our blog is a great way to get to know our dojo community of students and instructors!
Sensei Tristian
Sensei Tristian started as a White Belt in our Dragons classes in 2007. He began teaching in 2016, and he visited China and trained at the Shaolin Temple in 2018. Sensei Tristian earned his 3rd Degree Black Belt (Sandan) in 2019.
Sensei Tristian quite literally grew up in the dojo, motivated to keep training by the family he gained in the community and the outlet it gave him to express himself. He continued to train even while he was away at college, and he graduated with his bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Penn State University in 2021. After college he returned to Pittsburgh, and he now works as a Staff Engineer at a Civil and Environmental engineering firm. When not at work or in the dojo, Sensei Tristian plays pick up ultimate in the spring, grows flowers all year round, and watches Penguins hockey in his down time.
Sensei Tristian brings his love of the martial arts, his energy, and his enthusiasm to his teaching. He loves helping students push through their perceived limits:
“The slow realization on a student's face when they realize they’ve overcome a limit always brings me joy.”
Thank you to Sensei Tristian for his dedication in both training and teaching the martial arts!
