Sensei Natalie
Sensei Natalie started her martial arts journey as a White Belt in 2007. She began teaching with SDSS in 2020, and she earned her 3rd Degree Black Belt (Sandan) in the fall of that same year.
Many of you know Sensei Natalie from your Zoom sessions, where she’s brought her expertise and great energy to our virtual workouts for Tigers and Dragons. Early on in her martial arts journey, Sensei Natalie participated in the SDSS national tournament in 2009, where she placed 3rd. She was also the Western Pennsylvania Spelling Bee Champion in 2016!
So what motivates Sensei Natalie to keep training after 14+ years? “The dojo has such an amazing community of people that are all very dedicated to studying Kung Fu. Seeing them try their hardest every week definitely pushes me to try and match that energy. Also, whenever I take time to think about how much I have improved since I started taking classes I am inspired to keep putting in effort to see how much more I'll be able to do in the future.”
Congratulations to Sensei Natalie on her graduation from Pittsburgh’s Creative and Performing Arts (CAPA) school in 2021! She will be heading to the University of Chicago in the fall to study Physics. We’ll look forward to seeing all of the amazing things that the future holds for her!
