They have a long history and lore across East Asian cultures. To many around the globe, the dragon represents protection and hope.
The Year of the Dragon and the Chinese Zodiac

If you were born in the years 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000, 2012, or this (2024) year… you are a dragon. Welcome to the club! Some famous dragon people are: Maya Angelou, Sandra Bullock, Bruce Lee, John Lennon, Choe Kim, Martin Luther King Jr, Wangari Maathai, Rihanna, Shakira, and Willie Stargell. Grandmaster Demasco is also a dragon!
People born of this mystical sign are said to be courageous, passionate, powerful, disciplined, energetic, idealistic, hardworking, and they tend to be fearless leaders. They are often efficacious protectors by nature. Dragons can also be strong, confident, and independent thinking people who excel in managerial roles, academia, and the arts.
As with any sign, dragons can have both positive and negative qualities. Dragons can become overbearing, temperamental, impulsive, aggressive, and overconfident. They can seem arrogant, often not realizing that they come across this way. So, it’s good to discuss their occasional negative nature with them in a lighthearted manner. They will likely apologize profusely. Dragons set extremely high standards for themselves and often wonder why some others don’t do the same. If you are a dragon, it would be wise to control these shortcomings to the best of your ability.
The Year of the Dragon is said to represent a year of positivity and fortune. Let us all hope this year ushers in the positivity and protective nature of the dragon for people throughout the world.
